Book Value
The accounting net worth of the company, per share.
Everything the company owns minus everything it owes, divided by the number of shares. It is the shareholders' stake as the accountants record it.
It works best as a floor-ish reference for asset-heavy businesses such as banks and manufacturers. For businesses whose value is brands, software or people, book value understates reality by a wide margin.
