CCI (Commodity Channel Index)

How far price has strayed from its own recent average.

Despite the name, CCI is used on shares as readily as commodities. It measures the distance between the current price and its recent average, scaled by how much that price normally varies.

Readings above +100 mean an unusually strong move up; below −100, unusually strong down. Between the two is ordinary behaviour.
