Hammer / Shooting Star (Pin Bar)

A candle with one long tail: sellers (hammer) or buyers (shooting star) tried hard intraday and were fully rejected.

A hammer appears after a fall: the price plunged during the session (long lower tail) but closed back near the top. Sellers pushed and lost — a possible bottom.

A shooting star is its mirror after a rise: a long upper tail shows buyers reached high and were slapped back down — a possible top. Both are also called pin bars.

The tail is the message: someone probed and was rejected. The small body says the session closed roughly where it opened despite the drama.

Location is everything: a hammer at a 52-week low or a support level means far more than one mid-range.

Tail at least 2× the body is the usual bar for calling it.

One candle is a hint, not a verdict — confirmation comes from the next bar moving the same way.
