Higher Highs / Lower Lows (Trend Structure)
The oldest definition of trend: each swing peaks higher and dips shallower (up), or the reverse (down).
Strip away every indicator and a trend is just this: an uptrend makes higher highs and higher lows — each rally exceeds the last, each pullback holds above the previous dip. A downtrend makes lower highs and lower lows.
The structure breaks when a pullback takes out the prior swing low (uptrend) or a bounce exceeds the prior swing high (downtrend) — that break is the earliest structural warning of a turn.
Trade with the structure: longs in HH-HL, caution in LH-LL.
The FIRST lower low after a long HH-HL run deserves attention.
