Head & Shoulders (and Inverse)

Three peaks — the middle one tallest — warning that an uptrend is exhausting; confirmed when the neckline breaks.

The market makes a high (left shoulder), a higher high (head), then fails to exceed it (right shoulder). Buyers pushed three times; the third push was weaker than the second — momentum is dying.

The line joining the two dips between the peaks is the neckline. While price holds above it the pattern is only *forming*; a close below the neckline *confirms* it — every buyer of the whole structure is now underwater.

The inverse head & shoulders is the mirror image at a bottom: three troughs, the middle deepest, confirmed by a close above the neckline — sellers exhausted instead.

No confirmation, no pattern: most "forming" head & shoulders resolve harmlessly upward.

A classic (rough) target: the head-to-neckline height, projected below the break.

This is a fuzzy, tolerance-based shape — Supath flags candidates mechanically (shoulders within 6%, head 3%+ above), which finds structures a chartist might draw differently. Always check the chart itself.
