The close escapes a recent narrow-range bar’s high or low — the coiled spring releasing.

After an NR7 bar, a close above its high is a bullish breakout; a close below its low is bearish. The tight standoff resolved in one side’s favour.

The logic: everyone who mattered was balanced inside that narrow bar; the escape shows which side ran out of patience first.

A breakout with a volume spike carries more conviction than a quiet one.

The move right after the breakout bar tells you how much follow-through it earned.
