OBV (On-Balance Volume)

A running total of volume that adds on up days and subtracts on down days.

OBV keeps a cumulative tally: the day's traded volume is added when the price closed up and subtracted when it closed down.

The idea is that volume reveals conviction. A rising OBV means the up days are the busy ones — accumulation. Falling OBV while the price holds steady suggests the selling is the committed side.

The absolute number is meaningless — it depends entirely on when the count started. Only its direction carries information.
