Promoter / FII / DII Holding
Who owns the company: founders, foreign funds, Indian funds, or the public.
Promoters are the founders and the controlling family or group. FIIs are foreign institutional investors; DIIs are domestic ones — Indian mutual funds, insurers and pension funds. The rest is public shareholding.
The direction of change is usually more telling than the level. Promoters steadily increasing their stake signals confidence from the people who know the business best; a sustained decline is worth understanding.
A pledge — promoters borrowing against their own shares — is a specific risk, because a falling price can force those shares to be sold.
Promoters 41%, DIIs 26%, FIIs 11.3%, public the remainder.
