Supertrend

A single line that flips above or below price to mark the trend.

Supertrend draws one line derived from price and ATR. When the line sits below the price it is green — an uptrend; when it flips above, it turns red — a downtrend.

Its appeal is that it produces one unambiguous state rather than a number to interpret. Because it is built on ATR, it automatically allows more room in volatile stocks and less in calm ones.

A Supertrend line at ₹2,050 with the price at ₹2,182 reads bullish — the price is above the line, and the line would have to be broken for that to change.

In a sideways market Supertrend flips back and forth repeatedly. It is designed for trending conditions.
